"The court held a hearing today on indictment in the case. We, however, pleaded to exempt the accused from the charges, saying there is no element to frame charges against their clients. After holding hearing on the plea, Dhaka 1st Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge Mohammad Ibrahim Miah exempted the accused from the charges," defence counsel Jakir Hossain Jewel told BSS.
The other prominent accused in the case are Habibun Nabi Khan Sohel, Saiful Islam Nirob, Advocate Shimul Biswas, Advocate Joynul Abedin, Shafiul Bari Babu, Sultan Salauddin Tuku and Ishak Ali Sarker.
Police filed the case on 30 January 2018 for allegedly obstructing the law enforcement agencies from conducting their duties and vandalising vehicles. Charge-sheet was filed against 102 accused on 28 January 2020.
