BGB seizes 1.2 lakh pieces of yaba in Teknaf
The BGB official also said that legal procedures were underway about the incident.
Border Guard Bangladesh members have seized 1,20,000 pieces of contraband yaba tablets in Teknaf upazila of Cox's Bazar.
BGB members seized the consignment coming from Myanmar in a drive at the upazila's Mijjir Para yesterday night (4 September), confirmed Captain of Teknaf-based BGB-2 Battalion Lieutenant Colonel Md Mohiuddin Ahmed.
When asked about the drive, Mohiuddin said, "We received a news from our sources that a consignment of the contraband yaba drug would cross the border on Wednesday night. Based on the tip-off, BGB members took strategic positions in the area."
"At one point, we challenged two people who were swimming towards our side of the border. Realising our presence, the two people fled towards Myanmar leaving two plastic bags behind. Later, our patrol team searched the area and found 1,20,000 pieces of yaba tablets inside the bags," Mohiuddin added.
The BGB official also said that legal procedures were underway about the incident.
