Ex-public admin minister Farhad sent to jail
Ex-home minister's son also jailed in an attempt to murder case
A Dhaka court today sent former public administration minister Farhad Hossain to jail in a case lodged over killing garment worker Rubel in Adabor during the recent student-led protests.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Ragib Noor passed the order as police produced the former minister before the court after the end of his four-day remand in the case and pleaded to keep him behind bars.
Farhad was arrested from the Eskaton area in the city on 14 September and was placed on remand by the court the next day.
In a separate case, the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mostafizur Rahman sent Safi Modasser Khan Jyoty, son of former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, to jail.
The order was passed today after the end of his four-day remand in a case lodged over an attempt to murder a man named Md Robiul Sunny.
Sunny filed the case on 11 September with Ashulia Police Station against 30 people, including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
