Jubo League leader arrested for attacking student protesters in Ctg
The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-7) has arrested a Jubo League leader for his alleged involvement in attacking student protesters in early August.
Saddam, 40, was arrested during a raid in the Foujdarhat area of Chattogram's Sitakunda Police Station on 17 September, according to a press release.
According to the press release, the incident occurred on 4 August , when 19-year-old student Md Ibrahim was taking part in a student-led demonstration in the Kotwali area.
A group of 25-30 local armed men, led by Saddam, blocked the road near the Aparnacharan School at the Amtal intersection and allegedly assaulted Ibrahim and others.
Following the incident, Ibrahim filed a case at Kotwali Police Station against eight named individuals and 15-20 unidentified attackers. Investigators identified Saddam as the prime suspect.
Saddam has been handed over to the Kotwali Police Station for further legal proceedings.
