The incident took place in Khulna's Terokhada upazila on Monday at around 11am. Rezaul and the victim are neighbours, local sources said.
The policeman came home recently on a leave. He called the nine-year-old to his house on early Monday and raped her, according to the case statement.
Upon hearing the scream of the child, locals stormed into Reazul's house and caught him red-handed. Later, they handed him to Terokhada police.
The victim's father filed a case with Terokhada police station over the incident on the same day.
