Residential developer found dead in capital
The victim left his home, after receiving a phone call on Thursday evening, and did not return
A residential developer was found dead in an under-construction building of Bashundhara Residential Area's M-block in the capital on Friday morning.
His family claims that he was called from his home via his mobile phone on Thursday evening.
The businessman was identified as Abul Khayer, 50. He was the owner of Sajib Builders and lived in Bashundhara Residential Area with his family, said police.
According to his family, Khayer left the home after receiving a phone call on Thursday evening and did not return. Later, they informed Vatara Police Station of his disappearance.
They searched for Khayer on Thursday night, but could not track him, said Vatara Police Station's Officer-in-Charge (OC) Moktaruzzaman.
Later, his body was found in an under-construction building in Bashundhara Residential Area the next morning, police said.
The victim's brother Abdul Bari Bablu said that Abul Khayer had been a small-scale building developer for the last few years.
Recently, he had bought land in Bashundhara Residential Area, and there were some disputes with the matter, he said.
Khayer discussed the matter with Bari, seeking solutions, he added.
The family suspects that the murderer was familiar to Khayer. Or, he would not have left his home after receiving the phone call to meet the caller.
OC Moktaruzzaman said that they found the body and there were injury marks on the victim's head. Police suspect that it was a murder.
The police official added that they are investigating the matter.
