Six fined for honking horns in Secretariat area

A mobile court here on Thursday fined six drivers for blowing horns in the 'No Horn Zone' around the Secretariat in the city.
Executive Magistrate (Enforcement) of the Department of Environment Engineer Kazi Tamzid Ahmed and its Assistant Director Mosabber Hossain Mohammad conducted the drive.
Under the awareness campaign, drivers of two cars and four motorcyclists were fined Tk 1,300.

The authorities will continue the drive against tooting horns in the 'No Horn Zone', said Kazi Tamzid Ahmed.
Earlier, the government declared the area around the Secretariat, including the Link Road to Zero Point and Paltan intersection, as the 'No Horn Zone' from December 17 last with the aim to prevent sound pollution.
