Ctg man in need of evidence that he is alive!
Businessman finds himself declared dead in updated voter list, informs local EC office about the mistake
Chattogram businessman Iqbal Hosen was dumbfounded when he was told by bank officials that he was dead – as per the updated voter list of the local Election Commission (EC) office.
To prove himself very much alive, the Chattogram businessman from Raozan upazila is now rushing around the local EC office. The Election Commission says Iqbal was mistakenly listed dead when the voter list was updated.
Iqbal Hosen lives in Noapara union of the upazila and runs a business in Chattogram town. He recently applied for a loan with City Bank.
Since the bank found him dead, the application for the loan got scrapped, he said.
"I immediately informed the upazila Election Commission office, and EC officials found me dead in their database. Then I applied with the director general of the central national identity card (NID) registration wing," said the businessman.
Raozan Upazila Election Commission Officer Arun Uday Tripura said, "During the voter list updating in 2017, the businessman was shown dead as a local told the EC staff that Iqbal had died."
He said they would immediately contact the EC central office in Dhaka to correct the mistake.
