Dengue infection doubles outside Dhaka
A total of 2,226 dengue patients are now being treated at different government and private hospitals across the country
The number of dengue patients outside Dhaka has doubled compared to that in the capital in the last 24 hours till 8am on Thursday.
In this period, some 159 patients were hospitalised in Dhaka while 332 new cases were recorded in other parts of the country. This makes a total of 491 patients.
However, the total number during this period has decreased by 8 percent in comparison to the previous 24 hours.
From 8am Tuesday to 8am Wednesday, 536 new dengue patients were hospitalised across the country.
A total of 2,226 dengue patients are now being treated at different government and private hospitals across the country, according to the health directorate.
Of them, 903 patients are receiving treatment in Dhaka and 1,323 elsewhere.
So far, this year 83,481 dengue patients have been hospitalised. Among them, 81,052 have returned home after getting treatment.
The Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research received reports of 203 suspected deaths from dengue.
However, after reviewing 116 cases, the institute confirmed the deaths of 68 people from dengue.
