UGC changes mind, now suggests cluster admission test
UGC earlier proposed holding a uniform admission test for enrolling students
The University Grants Commission (UGC) has moved away from its previous decision of taking a unified admission test at public universities as five major universities have decided to enroll new students according to their own rules.
After a meeting with the vice chancellors of the universities today, UGC Chairman Kazi Shahidullah announced that the admission test for next academic session at 34 universities will be held in four phases under a cluster system.
Earlier, UGC proposed holding a uniform admission test for enrolling students in the country's public universities from 2020-2021 academic session.
However, Dhaka University, Rajshahi University, Jahangirnagar University, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet) and Chittagong University decided not to adopt UGC-proposed uniform admission test recently.
