Bangladesh seeks budget support from ADB for energy imports
Bangladesh has sought budget support from the Asian Development Bank to cover the foreign exchange obligations for electricity and fuel imports.
Energy Adviser Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan made the request during a meeting with a delegation led by Edimon Ginting, country director of the Asian Development Bank in Bangladesh, held in the conference room of the Ministry of Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources in Dhaka today (22 August).
Fouzul said the interim government wants to increase the use of renewable energy.
The energy adviser mentioned that he has made several decisions quickly since taking office. He emphasised that the government will now make decisions based not just on statistics but on actual reality.
He also informed the delegation that he has issued directives to ensure transparency by implementing an open tendering process in all cases.
