Mild heat wave may continue in parts of country
Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) predicted that the ongoing mild to moderate heat wave sweeping over six places of the country is likely to continue in the next 24 hours from 9am today.
"Mild heat wave is sweeping over Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions and the districts of Tangail, Kishoregonj and Naogaon and it may continue," it said.
Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind are also likely to occur at a few places over Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions and at one or two places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy falls at some places over the country, it added.
However, the day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged over the country.
The country's maximum temperature on Wednesday was recorded 37.5 degrees Celsius in Rangpur of the Rangpur division while today's minimum temperature was 24.0 degrees Celsius jointly in Rangamati and Feni districts of Chattogram division.
Rainfall for the last 24 hours till 6 am today was recorded at 54mm in Sandwip of Chattogram Division.
The sun sets at 5:58 pm today and rises at 5:4am tomorrow in the capital.
