Ex-lawmaker Manik arrested in Dhaka
Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) tonight arrested former lawmaker of Sunamganj-5 constituency Mohibur Rahman Manik from the capital's Bashundhara Residential area.
"We arrested Manik from the city's Bashundhara Residential area around 9:30pm," RAB Media and Legal Wing Director Lt Col Munim Ferdous told BSS.
Manik was arrested in a case filed with Sunamganj Sadar Police over an attack on protesters of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement in Sunamganj on 4 August, he said.
The arrestee would be handed over to the Detective Branch (DB) of police, he added.
Manik, an Awami League leader, was first elected as member of parliament from Sunamgaj-5 constituency in 1996. He was later elected as MP from the same constituency in 2008 and 2014.
