Ex-public admin minister Farhad placed on 5-day remand

A Dhaka court today (15 September) placed former public administration minister Farhad Hossain on a five-day remand in garment worker Rubel murder case filed with Adabor police station.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md Sanaullah passed the order after accepting a plea from Investigating Officer Abdul Malek, inspector of Adabor police station.
Farhad was arrested from the capital's Eskaton area on Saturday night.
On 5 August, Rubel was shot during a protest rally near Mohammadpur Ring Road area. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where attending doctors declared him dead.
His father Rafiqul Islam later filed a case with Adabor police station on 22 August.
Other prominent accused in the case are the ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina, her sister Sheikh Rehana, former transport minister and AL general Secretary Obaidul Quader, former members of parliament Barrister Sayedul Huq Sumon, Ferdous Ahmed and Sakib Al Hasan.
