Gazipur factory fire: Bodies handed over to relatives
Gazipur district administration and the factory provided the bereaved families with the financial aid of TK25,000 and Tk20,000 respectively
The bodies of 10 victims, killed in Gazipur factory fire on Sunday, have been handed over to their relatives.
Earlier, the deceased were identified after collecting DNA samples at the Shaheed Tazuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital, Resident Medical Officer Dr Pronoy Bhushan Das confirmed The Business Standard today.
Parvez of Gazipur's Noagaon area; Md Tarikul Islam of Mymensingh; Md Limon Islam of Dinajpur; Mohammad Faysal Khan and Uttom Chandra Das of Gazipur Sadar; Shamim and Rashed from Gazipur's Sreepur;Faridul Islam of Rangpur; Sazal Mia of Narsingdi; and Yusuf Mia of Brahmanbaria are the victims.
Gazipur district administration and the factory provided the bereaved families with the financial aid of TK25,000 and Tk20,000 respectively, said Mahfuzur Rahman, inspector (Investigation) at Joydebpur police station.
The fire originated from an electric short circuit in the armature of the Luxury Fan Factory on the second floor of a three-storey building in Gazipur Sadar Upazila's Baria union at 5:45pm, said Mamunur Rashid, deputy assistant director of Fire Service and Civil Defence in Gazipur.
