Ctg reports another dengue death, total reaches 8 in September
Dengue has claimed another life in Chattogram, bringing the total death toll this month to eight.
The deceased is Abul Hossain (37), a resident of Noakhali district. He passed away while receiving treatment for dengue at Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH), according to a report released by Chattogram District Civil Surgeon's office on Sunday (22 September).
The report also noted that in the last 24 hours, 72 new dengue patients were admitted to hospitals across Chattogram. Among them, 20 are receiving treatment at CMCH, 11 at BITID Hospital in Sitakunda, 12 at Upazila Health Complexes, 4 at Chattogram Government General Hospital, and 25 at various private hospitals in the city.
Since the beginning of the year, Chattogram has recorded a total of 1,151 dengue cases, with 671 patients from urban areas and 480 from upazilas. In just 22 days of September, 553 patients have been admitted to hospitals with dengue.
The report further detailed that dengue cases have been steadily increasing throughout the year. A total of 69 cases were reported in January, 25 in February, 28 in March, 18 in April, 17 in May, 41 in June, 198 in July, and 202 in August.
This year, dengue has claimed 13 lives in Chattogram, including three men, eight women, and two children.
