India will continue to work with Bangladesh on 'shared aspirations': MEA
India has reaffirmed its commitment to working with Bangladesh's interim government to achieve the "shared aspirations" of the people of the two countries.
"The Indian High Commissioner in Bangladesh had called upon Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus and discussed issues of mutual interest. He conveyed that India would continue to work with Bangladesh to fulfill the shared aspirations of prosperity, security and development," Indian Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said at a press conference today (12 September).
He stated that all trade between India and Bangladesh have resumed, reports The Economic Times.
"Trucks carrying essential commodities and other items are plying between the two countries carrying essential commodities," said the spokesperson.
Jaiswal noted that the unrest in Bangladesh had affected India's projects in the country, adding that work would resume only when it was safe to travel there.
Talking about the friendship pipeline project that supplies high speed diesel, he said that it was operational since March 2023, but there were some issues.
He further said that India had proposed solutions and was waiting for a response from Bangladesh.
