JU student detained over killing of ex-BCL leader Shamim

Police have detained a student of Jahangirnagar University over the killing of former leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League's JU unit and ex-student of the university's History department Shamim Ahmed alias Shamim Molla.
The detained has been identified as Md Mahmudul Hasan Rayhan. He was a student of Batch No-50 of the English department and a resident student of Sheikh Rasel Hall.
Police detained Rayhan during a drive in Gazipur this morning (22 September), confirmed Officer In-Charge of Ashulia police station Abu Bakar Siddique.
"Rayhan was detained from gazipur's Hotapara area around 5:30am today. He is currently being interrogated," the OC said.
Earlier, Chief Security Officer of the university Shudipta Shahin lodged a case with Ashulia police station on Thursday (19 September) over Shamim's killing.
Rayhan was made the third accused in the case, said police.
