Low-lying areas of Ctg, Feni, Cumilla, 5 other districts likely to be inundated: FFWC
The water level of all the major rivers of the country, including Gumti river in Cumilla, is flowing below the danger level while the water level of Feni, Muhuri, Halda, Sangu and Matamuhuri rivers of Chittagong division is increasing
In view of the possibility of heavy rainfall in the country and water coming down from upstream, the rivers in Chattogram division may swell rapidly in the next three days and submerge some low-lying areas of Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Bandarban, Khagrachhari, Feni, Cumilla, Noakhali and Laxmipur districts, said the report of Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC) today (12 September).
The water level of all the major rivers of the country, including Gumti river in Cumilla, is flowing below the danger level while the water level of Feni, Muhuri, Halda, Sangu and Matamuhuri rivers of Chittagong division is increasing.
Besides, the water levels in Brahmaputra-Jamuna rivers are slowly receding, which may continue for the next five days and may flow below the danger level.
Ganga-Padma river water level is slowly decreasing, which may continue for next three days and the water level may remain stable for next two days, but may flow below danger level.
The water level of Teesta, Dharla and Dudhkumar rivers in Rangpur division is receding at a slow rate.
Water level of these rivers may decrease slowly till next two days and may remain stable in next 24 hours, but may flow below danger level.
The water level of Surma and Kushiyara other major rivers of Sylhet division – Manu, Sarigoin, Dhalai, Khoai is decreasing, which can continue up to 24 hours.
In the next two days, the water level of the rivers in Sylhet division may remain steady but may flow below the danger level.
The water level of rivers in Barisal and Khulna divisions is steady.
According to the forecasts of heavy rain by the meteorological agencies, the water level of the rivers of Barisal and Khulna divisions may increase in the next three days.
