Man stabbed to death for protesting extortion in Ctg
A man was stabbed to death after reportedly protesting an extortion attempt in the Dhuppol Mistripara area in Chattogram yesterday (15 September).
The deceased has been identified as Muslim Uddin, 48, a scrap shop owner in the area.
Quoting witnesses, Bandar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Kazi Muhammad Sultan Ahsan said a man named Mizanur Rahman was attempting to extort money from a shop in Dhuppol Mistripara last night.
"When Muslim Uddin protested, Mizanur Rahman got into an altercation with him and, at one point, stabbed him. He was stabbed on the left side above the waist. Locals rescued him and rushed to a local hospital where doctors declared him dead," he added.
"Upon receiving information, police recovered the body and sent it to Chattogram Medical College Hospital for an autopsy. Filing of a case in this connection is under process," the OC said.
"Once the accused is arrested, the real motive behind the murder will be known," he added.
