Mirpur-10 metro rail station to resume operation tomorrow
During the "Complete Shutdown" programme of the Anti-Discrimination Students Movement, a group of people vandalised Mirpur-10 and Kazipara stations on the evening of 19 July
The Mirpur-10 metro rail station will resume operation tomorrow (15 October), said Mohammad Abdur Rauf, managing director of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Ltd (DMTCL).
He made the announcement during a press conference at the DMTCL office at the capital's Uttara today (14 October).
During the "Complete Shutdown" programme of the Anti-Discrimination Students Movement, a group of people vandalised Mirpur-10 and Kazipara stations on the evening of 19 July.
The metro operations resumed on 25 August, but the two stations remained closed.
Earlier, the estimated cost for repairing those stations was Tk300 crore, but later, a committee was formed to scrutinise the repair cost further.
The oversight committee, established by the Road Transport and Highways Division, held a meeting on 25 September.
In light of the meeting's decisions, it was decided to expedite the inauguration of the Mirpur-10 metro rail station using engineering services from DMTCL and local IT computer products.
Following this, the Mirpur-10 metro rail station is scheduled to become operational on 15 October, which is two months and twenty-seven days after it closed.
The closed Kazipara metro rail station already resumed operations on 20 September.
