New front emerges in students’ politics
The new front named “Sontrashbirodhi Chhatra Oikya” was launched at Madhu's Canteen in the Dhaka University
The country's 12 students organisations formed a new front with a commitment to work for a safe and democratic campus with the spirit of anti-terrorism, non-communal and anti-autocracy.
The new front named "Sontrashbirodhi Chhatra Oikya" was launched at the Madhu's Canteen on the Dhaka University campus on Friday.
Social Welfare Secretary of Dhaka University Central Students' Union Akter Hossain read out a written statement and announced the formation of the new front.
The 12 organisations are Bangladesh Sadharon Chhatra Odhikar Songrakkhan Parishad, Bangladesh Chhatra Union, Bangladesh Chhatra Federation (Gonosonghoti Andolon), Bangladesh Chhatra Federation (Badruddin Omar), Somajtantrik Chhatra Front (Basod), Somajtantrik Chhatra Front (Marxist), Biplobi Chhatra Moitree, Biplobi Chhatra-Jubo Andolon, Greater Parbotya Chattogram Pahari Chhatra Parishad, Nagorik Chhatra Oikya, Swotontro Jote and Chhatra Gonomancha.
Akter Hossain said, "We did not include Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, the student wing of BNP, as they were also involved in terrorist activities and grabbing seats at students' dorms when BNP was in power."
