Jamaat calls for nationwide protests Friday demanding release of party leaders
Jamaat-e-Islami has announced nationwide protests on Friday to demand the release of party Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman and activists, the withdrawal of fabricated cases, and the establishment of a caretaker government.
Jamaat Secretary General ATM Machum said, "The present government is persecuting opposition leaders and activists with baseless and conspiratorial charges. Cases are even being filed in the names of deceased individuals. No one, regardless of age or gender, is exempt from the government's oppression. The people of the country stand united in demanding a caretaker government, as the government is scheming to stage a fraudulent election by sidelining the opposition."
He urged cooperation from the district branches of Jamaat and the general public to ensure the peaceful success of this initiative.
