President Md Abdul Hamid on Friday greeted the countrymen and the Muslims across the world on the occasion of holy Eid-ul-Azha to be celebrated on Saturday here.
In a message, the President said the spirit of sacrifice of Eid-ul-Azha is a unique example of showing respect and love to the almighty Allah.
Hazrat Ibrahim (AS), he said, has set an incomparable example of love, obedience and sacrifice to Allah by taking steps to sacrifice his beloved son Hazrat Ismail (AS) by the directive of Allah.
"Azha means Qurbani (sacrifice). Realizing the essence of sacrifice, we will have to be imbued with the mindset of sacrifice and show restraint to pave the way for establishing peace and welfare in society," Abdul Hamid said.
"If the lesson of sacrifice is reflected in our personal and social life, peace and brotherhood will be established in society," he said.
The President said this year the Eid-ul-Azha is being celebrated at a time when the world community is distraught witnessing a catastrophe arisen out of coronavirus pandemic as many people are in hardship at different parts of the world.
"We all will have to extend our cooperation for the welfare of these people," he said.
He urged all to become conscious and maintain health guidelines in daily life and movement outside of home to check the spread of coronavirus.
"The pledge of this Eid-ul-Azha be to remain myself sound and keep others healthy too," he said.
The President also called upon the citizens to sacrifice their animals in government designated places and maintain health guidelines properly in every activity including purchasing cattle and removal of animal wastes.
The head of the state wished the Eid-ul-Azha will bring happiness and instill the ideology of sacrifice into all.
