Rain likely to continue for 3 more days: Met office
Maritime ports advised to hoist signal 3
The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) predicted the ongoing light to moderate and moderately heavy rainfall under the influence of a low pressure area over the Bay would continue for three more days across all eight divisions.
"Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at places over the country," says a BMD bulletin for the next 24 hours commencing 6pm Wednesday.
The day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country, it added.
Meanwhile, the low pressure area over Westcentral and adjoining Northwest Bay moved west-northwestwards. It has weakened and merged with the monsoon axis. "Monsoon is active over Bangladesh and strong over North Bay."
"All maritime ports have been advised to hoist local cautionary signal No 3," reads the bulletin.
For the next 24 hours from 6pm today, the Met office predicted light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind for all divisions, with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places.
During the period, day temperature may rise by 1-3 degrees Celsius and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country, says the forecast.
In the next 24 hours from 6pm tomorrow, rainfall would continue, and at the end period, it is likely to increase, according to a 5-day outlook by the BMD beginning 6pm yesterday.
In the past 24 hours till 6pm yesterday, the highest rainfall was recorded in Cumilla's Ramgati at 105mm, while the capital received 36mm.
