Rape case filed against Ctg Hefazat leader
Earlier on Wednesday, Chattogram district police arrested him from Cox's Bazar
A case has been filed against Chattogram Hefazat--Islam leader Zakaria Noman Faizi on charges of rape early Friday.
Faizi was the Publicity Secretary of the now-defunct Hefazat-e-Islam central committee.
The victim herself filed the case at the Hathazari Model Police Station.
Chattogram District Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime) Afzarul Haque Tutul confirmed the matter to The Business Standard.
According to police sources, Faizi met a woman through Facebook in September 2019. After that, he allegedly raped the woman with the promise of marriage while keeping her in different houses in Hathazari and Chattogram city.
She filed the case after sensing the Hefazat leader's deception.
Earlier on Wednesday, Chattogram district police arrested Zakaria Noman Faizi from Chakaria in Cox's Bazar.
Later, A Chattogram court on Thursday placed him on 5-day remand when police produced him to court with remand prayer for interrogation.
