Udichi Shilpi Gosthi holds cultural assembly in protest against student killing
Addressing the gathering, the organisation’s Vice President Jamshed Anwar Tapan, said, “The government has tried to legitimise all its wrongdoings under the banner of the Liberation War spirit. Their excessive rhetoric has backfired. In this situation, the prime minister must apologise and resign because no justice for these killings can be achieved while this government remains in power.”
In protest of the killing of students involved in the quota reform protests, Udichi Shilpi Gosthi organised a cultural assembly today (2 August).
The event began at 11am in front of the National Press Club in Dhaka, where cultural activists performed patriotic songs and recited poetry.
During the assembly, speakers accused the government of disregarding the students' movement and creating an environment conducive to violence. They stated that the government must take responsibility for the killings of students and citizens.
