200 people barred from leaving Narayanganj
Earlier many people tried to flee too on April 11 and April 13 by trawler and they were barred as well
Police have barred more than 200 men and women from leaving coronavirus hotspot Narayanganj district defying the lockdown on Tuesday night and early Wednesday.
Some of them were detained from Char Baktabali are under Fatullah at around 11:30 pm and later others from Gabtoli Tagarpar, Maurapotti, Signboard and Panchabati at 1:30 am, reports Somoy TV.
Officer-in-Charge of Fatullah Police Station Aslam Hossain said, "Some 70-75 men and women started for Kishorganj by a bulkhead on Buriganga River from Charbaktaboli area. They were nabbed by a team of patrol police."
"Again at 1:30 am police arrested around 160 people from Tagarpar, Maurapotti and Signboard area who were all trying to flee to Kishorganj by pick-up vans and trucks," he added.
They were sent back to their respective homes and the vehicles were seized. However, legal actions are being taken against the vehicle drivers for carrying passengers defying the lockdown, Aslam further informed.
