DGHS reported 886 new cases testing 3,684 samples in last 24 hours, lowest in three months

Bangladesh today confirmed 22 more deaths from the novel coronavirus and 886 new cases of infection testing 3,684 samples in the last 24 hours, lowest in three months.
With this, the death toll from the deadly virus rose to 3,154 and the number of total infections stood at 240,746.
Bangladesh conducted daily tests lower than today on April 26 [3,473 tests]. The positive cases lower than today was on May 9 [636 cases].
The country recorded a lower daily deaths than today on May 28 [15 deaths].
"Of the dead patients, 17 are men and five women. Moreover, eight of them are hailed from Dhaka, four from Rajshahi, three each from Khulna and Chattogram, two from Barishal, and one each from Rangpur and Sylhet division," Additional Director General (administration) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Professor Dr Nasima Sultana revealed the latest figures during the daily virtual health bulletin today.
"Twenty of them have died in different hospitals and two at their respective homes."
According to the age group analysis of Covid-19 victims as of today, the highest number of patients - 46.35 percent or 1,462 - died till date are aged sixty and above. The age groups of 51-60 and 41-50 come next with respectively 28.82 percent (909) and 13.92 percent (439). Rest of the age groups stand under seven percent, such as- 31-40 with 6.56 percent (207), 21-30 with 2.76 percent (87), 11-20 with 1.01 percent (32) and under ten with 0.57 percent (18).
The gender-wise analysis of the victims disclosed that some 2,479 people who have died from Covid-19 are males and 675 are females, which are 78.60 percent and 21.40 percent respectively.
District-wise, out of 3,132 fatalities till date, 47.72 percent or 1,505 are hailed from Dhaka division, 24.25 or 765 percent from Chattogram, 7.26 percent or 229 from Khulna, 6.02 percent or 190 from Rajshahi, 4.82 percent or 152 from Sylhet, 3.99 percent or 126 from Barishal, 3.77 percent or 119 from Rangpur, and 2.16 percent or 68 from Mymensingh.
Dr Nasima Said, "Some 3,213 samples were collected in the last 24 hours and 3,684 were tested in 82 labs across the country. So far 1,189,295 samples have been tested."
Besides, some 1,117 patients have recovered during the time, increasing the tally to 136,253.
Around 56.84 percent of novel coronavirus patients – both symptomatic and asymptomatic – have recovered in Bangladesh so far, while 1.31 percent have died.
The latest day's infection rate was 24.05 percent of the total tests, though the overall rate in the country till date was 20.24 percent.
Currently, 55,369 people are quarantined across the country – including 1,655 newly-quarantined individuals. A total of 383,764 people have completed their quarantine course.
The country is capable of accommodating 31,991 people at 629 institutional quarantine facilities across the country.
Nasima Sultana said, "The authorities placed 324 new individuals suspected of having Covid-19 into isolation, bringing the total to 18,720 after 33,369 left."
As many as 19,042,191 hotline health services were given by 16,498 trained and 4,217 volunteer doctors via three designated numbers, including 49,840 in the last 24-hour till 8am today.
Via the telemedicine service, everyday a total of 100 doctors and health officils in two shifts are providing Covid-19 advice, that has been availed by 154,199 people till date including 432 in the last 24 hours.
The virus has killed 689,099 people globally and infected 18,039,050 so far.
