Tom Tailor Bangladesh to donate staff’s one day salary to BGMEA fund
The organisation sent an email to BGMEA President Dr Rubana Huq on Wednesday afternoon, asking her permission for the donation
Tom Tailor Bangladesh has decided to donate an amount worth one day salary of its employees to the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) fund amid the coronavirus spread in the country.
The organisation sent an email to BGMEA President Dr Rubana Huq on Wednesday afternoon, asking her permission for the donation.
"Tom Taylor Bangladesh has offered to donate one day's salary of its workers to buy personal protective equipment for health professionals in Bangladesh," Rubana told the media.
"The Covid-19 pandemic will have a great impact on our workers, economy and the general people. Considering its track record in China, Italy and the US, we understand it is not going to end overnight," she said in an email.
Tom Tailor's Bangladesh country manager will hand over the cheque to the BGMEA if it gets the permission.
