Huawei starts providing housing support to flood-victims
The recent Floods in Bangladesh have caused unprecedented destruction, impacting thousands of families without Homes. Many families have lost their shelters and are spending miserable days with their elders and children. To assist a few of these families, Huawei Bangladesh has started the second phase of its flood relief initiative this year.
In this second phase, Huawei will build houses on the land of flood victims and deliver them free of cost. This Week, four families of Parshuram, Feni, received houses from Huawei. The first four recipients are Ahsan Ullah, Shahidul Islam, Mustafa, and Delwar.
Lin Hai (Haven), a Board Member of Huawei South Asia, formally handed over the houses to the flood victims in their locality. Ahmed Imtiaz Jami, Founder and President of Obhizatrik Foundation, was also present. In the near future, 21 more families will get the same facility.
In this flood relief campaign, Huawei has collaborated with Obhizatrik Foundation, a non-profit organisation. Huawei provides the funding for the campaign, and Obhizatrik Foundation selects the recipients and coordinates with them.
Besides this, Huawei has been running several medical camps in flood-affected areas since August. The medical camps offer doctors' advice, medicines, water purification kits, clean water, and other necessary medical support to the victims free of cost. Around 2000 people receive medical care from these medical camps every day.
Huawei has participated in such humanitarian works through its corporate social responsibility activities in Bangladesh for the last 26 years. During natural disasters, Huawei actively supported the people of Bangladesh according to its motto, 'In Bangladesh, For Bangladesh'.
