Monash College Diploma’s 3rd intake orientation for this year held at UCB
Universal College Bangladesh (UCB), the exclusive partner to Monash College in Bangladesh, has recently hosted the orientation programme for this year's 3rd Monash College Diploma (MCD) programme intake.
It was standing room only as students and parents gathered at the UCB campus for the event. It gave them a comprehensive introduction to many exciting aspects of studying Business, Engineering and Information Technology programs from a world top 40 university.
The orientation commenced with the welcoming remarks of Professor Hew Gill, President & Provost of UCB. Azra Karim, In-country Representative Bangladesh, International Student Recruitment, Monash University, University Marketing, Admissions, and Communications; and Daniel Lum, Senior Executive, International Recruitment & Development, Marketing and Future Students, Monash University, Malaysia, then made presentations explaining the many benefits and opportunities of the Monash programs.

Dr Sadia Afreen, MCD Programs Coordinator, gave a thorough overview of the different MCD programs that the students would pursue. Shafik Waes, Deputy Registrar, explained key academic policies and procedures, and Biplab Paul, IT Executive, introduced students to the world-class systems provided at UCB. The new students also joined in an experience session to meet current students and learn what it is like to study an international curriculum in Bangladesh. The student orientation concluded with an in-depth session on Counselling & Support Services, Student Clubs, and the many activities at the UCB Gulshan campus.
Prof. Hew Gill and Samia Salam conducted a parent orientation session. They explained how the MCD programs are a fast track to a range of Business, Engineering, and Information Technology degrees at Monash University in Australia or Malaysia. He also shared details of some of the exciting scholarship opportunities open to UCB students.
He said, "MCD allows students to complete the first year of a Monash Business, Engineering or IT degree in Dhaka. The program serves as a bridge that connects students to a top university and gives UCB students the same quality of education they would in Australia. MCD takes less than a year and ensures students a seamless progression into their second year at Monash Australia or Malaysia."

The Monash MCD programs in Business, Engineering, and IT are open to students with HSC, AS, A Levels, and similar qualifications. Many scholarships are available. MCD allows local students to jump into the second year of their preferred undergraduate degree at Monash University.
