TBS Changemakers: Hasin Jahan
To celebrate the first anniversary of our publication, we at the business standard have decided to recognise the contribution of various individuals in different fields during the last year. Hasin Jahan, country director of WaterAid Bangladesh, which as a WASH agency has been engaged in various awareness raising and preventive measures to limit further spread of the coronavirus, is The Business Standard’s (TBS) changemaker in the development work category
Hasin Jahan is the country director of WaterAid Bangladesh.
A civil engineering graduate from Bangladesh University of Science and Technology (BUET), Hasin Jahan later completed her MSc in Water and Environmental Management from WEDC, UK and secured Post Graduate Diploma in Disaster Management from the University of Dhaka.
During the ongoing global pandemic the World Health Organisation (WHO) issued Covid-19 strategy update which intends to help guide the public health response to Covid-19 at national and sub-national levels.
As the country head of WaterAid, she lead the agency's implementation of the WHO issued strategies.
Under Hasin Jahan's leadership, WaterAid Bangladesh implemented the strategies through the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) programme of UNICEF and spread the awareness in the grass root level through effective on field teams.
WaterAid Bangladesh, led by Jahan is also working with citizens' platform for SDGs Bangladesh, a civil society platform which actively advocate to reach marginalised and disadvantaged groups of people of the country, to amplify our call during Covid-19.
