All award shows have been drastically affected by the ongoing pandemic. It's led to massive delays and as for the Emmys this year, this award show will be one with numerous experiments.
The Emmys this year is going to be the first award show in a corona ridden world. However, the award show is taking every single precaution there is.
Jimmy Kimmel elaborated on the experimental format in an interview with Deadline.
"I guess it's going to be some combination of the Emmys and Big Brother," Kimmel said.
And it seems like that's going to be the case, with no red carpet, cameras waiting outside the 140 nominees of the shows it's set to be an Emmy like we've never seen.
But Kimmel isn't very optimistic about this format. He speculates it could be "the lowest-rated Emmys of all time".
Nonetheless, the bold format is exciting for Kimmel as well. It might be an exemplary case and would lay the foundation for other shows if Kimmel and the producers can make it work.
