The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB), the premier professional body responsible for developing and regulating the accountancy profession in Bangladesh, invites applications from qualified and experienced professionals for the position of Director – Professional Development & Practice Management.
The Director - Professional Development & Practice Management will provide strategic and operational leadership to the Institute, ensuring effective implementation of the Council's decisions and advancing ICAB's mandate in professional education, regulation, and member services as per the recently approved organogram of ICAB under its reforms initiative to empower its management fully.

Key Responsibilities
The Director (Professional Development & Practice Management) will be responsible for:
- Leading the development and implementation of initiatives related to professional development of members and practicing firms.
- Providing strategic leadership in areas relating to technical standards, research, professional learning, and practice development.
- Promoting awareness and implementation of international accounting and auditing standards (IFRS, IAS, ISA) and related professional pronouncements.
- Overseeing Professional Learning & Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programs to enhance members' professional competence and knowledge.
- Developing technical guidance, research publications, and professional resources to support members and the profession.
- Supporting practicing members and firms in improving practice management, professional quality, and service delivery standards.
- Coordinating with national and international professional bodies including IFAC, SAFA, CAPA, IFRS Foundation, and other global institutions for professional collaboration and knowledge exchange.
- Liaising with regulatory authorities, government agencies, and other key stakeholders on matters related to professional standards and practice development.
- Supporting the CEO and Council in advancing initiatives aimed at strengthening the profession and enhancing the public interest role of ICAB.
Candidate Profile
- Education: Fellow Chartered Accountant (FCA) from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh.
- Preference will be given to candidates with MBA from IBA, University of Dhaka, or other leading institution additionally.
Experience
- Minimum 10–15 years of professional experience after qualifying as a Chartered Accountant.
- Significant experience in professional practice, audit, advisory, or professional leadership roles within accounting firms, professional institutions, or regulatory bodies.
Required Expertise
- Sound knowledge of updated international standards of Accounting and Auditing (IFRS/IAS/ISA).
- Strong understanding of Sustainability Reporting Standards including IFRS S1 and IFRS S2
- In-depth knowledge of the Code of Ethics for Professional Accountants (IESBA Code) and ethical requirements applicable to professional practice.
- Strong understanding of practice management, audit quality frameworks, and regulatory environment in Bangladesh.
- Experience in technical standards implementation, professional learning programs, technical guidance, and research activities will be considered an advantage.
