Jamaat leader war criminal Abdus Subhan passes away
The 86 year old Jamaat-e-Islami leader was admitted to the medicine department of the hospital on January 24 with old age complications
Abdus Subhan, a convicted war criminal died at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) on Friday.
The 86 year old Jamaat-e-Islami leader was admitted to the medicine department of the hospital on January 24 with old age complications, chief assistant jailer of Dhaka Central Jail in Keraniganj told The Business Standard.
"He died at 1:30pm today," he added.
DMCH police outpost In-charge Bacchu Mia said, "His body is currently kept in the DMCH morgue."
Earlier on February 18 in 2015, the International Tribunal-2 (ICT-2) sentenced Abdus Subhan to death for his crimes against humanity during the Liberation War in 1971.
He was found guilty in six out of the nine charges against him.
The tribunal sentenced him to death on three charges and also sentenced to imprisonment until death on two charges and five years' imprisonment on one charge.
On March 18 of the same year, Subhan filed the appeal with the Supreme Court challenging his death penalty.
