The Election Commission has instructed the Ministry of Public Administration to declare a public holiday on 7 January on the occasion of the national election.

A letter signed by Election Commission Deputy Secretary Md Atiar Rahman was sent to the ministry on Sunday.

The commission has also sent copies of the letter to relevant government offices.
