Musician Azad Rahman passes away
He breathed his last at the Bangladesh Specialised Hospital in the capital’s Shyamoli
Renowned musician and composer Azad Rahman passed away today around 4:30pm.
He breathed his last at the Bangladesh Specialised Hospital in the capital's Shyamoli.
Azad Rahman's sister Masuma Mannan Lina confirmed the matter to media.
"He was admitted into the hospital after suddenly getting sick on Friday," she said.
He is survived by his wife Selina Azad and three daughters.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed her deep shock for the death of the musician. She also conveyed sympathy to his bereaved family.
Azad Rahman composed many famous songs including Jonmo Amar Dhonyo Holo Maa Go, Bhalobasar Mulyo Koto, Dorakata Dekhe Bagh Chena Jai etc.
He won the National Film Awards as a singer once and as a music director twice in 1977 and 1993.
