The authorities at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka have directed 39 airlines to re-issue or re-book tickets at no extra charge for passengers who missed their flights due to the floods.
Airport authorities issued letters to the airlines outlining this directive yesterday.
Severe flooding affected millions of lives in 11 districts of Bangladesh.
In the letter, Executive Director of Dhaka Airport Group Captain Md Kamrul Islam said due to the widespread flooding across the country, many passengers are struggling to arrive at the airport and are missing their international flights.
In this context, airlines are asked to assist their passengers and provide 24-hour customer service. Additionally, they are requested to offer free flight ticket changes for those affected by the floods, according to the letter.

Air Astra has announced that it will allow passengers to re-issue or re-book their tickets free of charge due to the ongoing flood situation in the country. Many passengers have been unable to reach their scheduled flight times or have missed their flights due to the floods.
According to a press release issued on Friday, Air Astra will re-issue or rebook tickets for affected passengers without any additional charges.
Passengers are requested to contact 13607 for information on re-issuing or rebooking their tickets, the release added.
