Govt forms committee to address Ansar demands
The home ministry urged all general Ansars to return to their respective duties
The interim government has announced plans to address the demands of Ansar members, who have been protesting for ensuring better working conditions and benefits.
A committee, headed by the director-general of the Ansar and VDP, has been formed to formulate recommendations within the next seven working days, according to a notification from the home ministry's Public Security Division issued on Saturday.
The notice stated that the chief adviser has been informed about the demands of the general Ansar members. The government has reviewed the demands raised by the Ansar members with deep attention and sympathy, it read. Initially, some of the demands have been found to be reasonable, it added.
In this context, the government has decided to examine the possibility of continuing employment without providing the usual three-year rest period given to general Ansar members after their service. Additionally, it has decided not to make any new appointments for general Ansar positions at this time.
The committee's recommendations will be reviewed by an inter-ministerial committee, which will determine the implementation strategy and present a report to the government for further action. The Public Security Division said it believes that the move will lead to a logical and acceptable resolution of the demands of the general Ansar members.
The notice calls on the general Ansar members to return to their respective workplaces and resume their duties.
It also states that legal action will be taken against anyone who creates disorder. It has been emphasised that the Ansar and VDP are a disciplined force and that no one should engage in activities that tarnish the reputation and image of this traditionally disciplined force.
The Public Security Division said it has noted that a few instigators are attempting to create disorder within this disciplined force. The government will not hesitate to take legal action against them if necessary, it said.
