Hasina, 27 others sued over killing TCB seller
A case was filed today against ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina and 27 others over the killing of a Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) product seller in the capital during the recent student protests.
Mamunur Rashid, brother-in-law of victim Md Eusuf Sanowar, filed the complaint with Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Saddam Hossain. The court, after recording the statement of the complainant, asked the officer in-charge of Jatrabari Police Station to accept the matter as a first information report (FIR).
The other prominent accused in the case are Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader and former ministers Anisul Huq and Tazul Islam.
According to the case documents, Md Eusuf Sanowar on 20 July went to the capital's Shanir Akhra area after receiving treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital. As he reached the area, Awami League men and police started firing at him.
Sanowar was critically injured by gunshots and he was immediately rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where the attending doctors declared him dead.
