Be patient, allow interim govt to settle and work: Jamaat Ameer
The Jamaat Ameer visited Hasnat Abdullah, one of the coordinators of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, who was injured in a clash with Ansar members at the secretariat on Sunday night and was receiving treatment at DMCH.
Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman has called upon all concerned to give the newly formed interim government a chance to settle in and begin working.
"They [interim government advisers, including Chief Adviser Dr Yunus] have accepted the responsibility on the request of the students. Give them a chance to organise and work," he told reporters at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) today.

Hasnat was subsequently transferred to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka for advanced care today afternoon.
Regarding the recent wave of demonstrations by various quarters, Jamaat Ameer said, "Why did you not raise your demands earlier? Since you have been patient for 15 and a half years, please continue to be patient a bit longer. Allow them [interim govt] time to prepare and get organised. How can they work effectively if you keep creating distractions?"
Shafiqur Rahman also condemned the actions of unruly Ansar members who forcefully entered the secretariat and attacked Hasnat Abdullah and other students.
"On 5 August, there was a significant change in the country, with Hasnat Abdullah playing a crucial role in the student movement," he said.
"These students went to the secretariat to address the Ansar members' demands and calm their unrest, but instead, the Ansars exceeded all boundaries and assaulted the students," the Jamaat Ameer added.
