New platform ‘Rodh’ to hold 1st event on disappearance at DU today
"Rodh", an anti-fascist performative collective, will host a special programme on "Enforced Disappearances: Separation and Dissection" at 5pm tomorrow (29 August) at the RC Majumdar Auditorium of Dhaka University.
This collective brings together artists, filmmakers, researchers, and academics from diverse backgrounds who are united in their fight against oppression and for the protection of human rights, reads a press release.
Members of Rodh are Zarrin Tasnim Saika, visual artist; Debashish Chakrabarty, artist & author; Mondrila Modhurima, visual artist; Shaharik Istik Raz, musician & cinematographer; Shrobona Shafique Dipti, urban anthropologist; Tamim Srote, filmmaker; Moinul Islam Shuddho, photographer; Sumi Anjuman, visual artist, and Faysal Zaman, artistic researcher.
The inaugural event will be attended by Sanjida Islam Tulee, coordinator of Mayer Daak; Sohul Ahmed, researcher and writer; Rezaur Rahman Lenin, researcher, author, and human rights activist, Mohammad Ali Majed, journalist of news agency AFP; and Moshfiqur Rahman Johan, anthropologist and documentary photographer.
Art Researcher Razib Datta, Artist and Writer Debashish Chakrabarty, and Artistic Researcher Faysal Zaman are likely to attend the programme.
Through the event, they aim to bring to public attention the context and horror of "enforced disappearances" in an independent country.
