BNP dissolves Ctg South District Convening Committee
The BNP has dissolved the convening committee of its Chattogram South District unit.
According to a press release on Sunday (1 September), the committee has been dissolved in line with the party's decision, and no organisational activities can be conducted under the name of Chattogram South District BNP until a new committee is formed, reports UNB.
Earlier on 31 August, three BNP leaders in Chattogram were served a show cause notice over supervising the relocation of 14 luxury cars owned by S Alam Group late at night on Thursday (29 August).
The party has issued the show cause to Chattogram District BNP South unit Convener Abu Sufian, Joint Convener Enamul Haque Enam and Karnaphuli Thana BNP Convener SM Mamun Mia.
Members of the Chattogram District BNP South unit announced the show cause notice against three of their leaders at a press conference.
BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Porsche and Range Rover were among the luxury cars, belonging to S Alam Group's chairman and his relatives, which were removed from a warehouse, owned by Meer Group in the city's Kalurghat Industrial Area, that night (29 August).
A video has gone viral where Chattogram District BNP South unit Joint Convener Enamul Haque Enam, Patiya upazila unit Jubo Dal Member Secretary Ahidul Alam Chowdhury Piblu and Chattogram District South unit Chhatra Dal Joint Convener Sheikh Md Hossain Nayan were seen supervising the event.
Chattogram District BNP South unit Convener Abu Sufian's chauffeur Mansoor was also identified among them.
The incident follows Bangladesh Bank governor's directive to the public that no one should buy properties that do not have bank mortgages from S Alam Group as depositors would be refunded by banks after selling those.
