Haji Salim on 5-day remand in Ideal College student murder case
Police arrested Salim from the capital's Bongshal area last night
A Dhaka court today (2 September) placed former Dhaka-7 lawmaker Haji Mohammad Salim on a five-day remand in a case lodged over the murder of Ideal College student Khalid Hasan Saifullah during the recent Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Akteruzzaman passed the order as police produced the former lawmaker before the court and pleaded to place him on a 10-day remand in the case.
Police arrested Salim from the capital's Bongshal area last night.
Saifullah was gunned down in Lalbagh Government Residential Area on July 18 as he was taking part in anti-discrimination student rally.
His father Kamrul Hasan filed the case with Lalbagh Police Station on August 19, against 52 people including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
