Man gets death penalty for murder of police constable in Cox's Bazar
Two other accused were sentenced to 10 years in prison
A Cox's Bazar court today (4 September) sentenced a man to death in a case filed over the murder of tourist police constable Parvez Hossain in 2015.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Mohiuddin Murad passed the verdict this afternoon, said Mozaffar Ahmad Helali, additional counsel of the court.
The convict, Abu Taher, 28, was also fined Tk50,000.
Two other accused – Shafiul Alam and Rashidul Hasan – were sentenced to 10 years in prison and fined while four others were acquitted.
Constable Parvez was stabbed to death in Cox's Bazar city on 23 July 2015. The investigation officer submitted the charge sheet to the court on 24 November of the same year and the trial began on 1 October 2019.
