Dhaka South optimistic about controlling dengue
The Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has expressed its optimism about controlling mosquito-borne disease Dengue by conducting regular and special programmes.
"We are hopeful to check Dengua under the DSCC areas in a successful manner by conducting regular and special programmes," DSCC Administrator Dr Moh Sher Ali told newsmen after overseeing the field level drives to control dengue at the corporation's Convention Centre, Shitalakhya Hall.
He said they are regularly carrying out larviciding and anti-larviciding to destroy the larva of Aedes mosquito and killing living and flying mosquitoes to check dengue.
Additionally, the DSCC has been conducting anti-mosquito drives in the areas under its jurisdiction where dengue larvae were found as per the list of the dengue patients prepared by the Directorate of Health, he said.
The DSCC has taken the programmes at the directive of LGRD and Cooperatives adviser, he said.
Mentioning that the environment was in favour of controlling dengue this year as the temperature was over 35 degree Celcious for a curtain period and the mosquitoes could not survive above the temperature.
"We're hopeful that there will be no problem with Dengue this year. We will act promptly if any problem arises to this end," he said.
