2 vessels collide at outer anchorage of Ctg port
Two vessels collided at the outer anchorage of the Chattogram port this afternoon (7 September), causing damage to one ship.
The collision occurred at around 2pm at the Alpha Anchorage when a fertiliser vessel struck a ship carrying lentils.
Md Omar Faruk, secretary of the Chattogram Port Authority, said, "The ships were freed with the assistance of their captains after the propellers got stuck."
No injuries were reported, and authorities are investigating the cause of the incident.
According to the Chattogram Port Authority, the Liberian-flagged MV Friendly Island was anchored and unloading lentils at Alpha Anchorage.
The Panama-flagged ship Navios Celestial, carrying DAP fertiliser, was near Qutubdia when it collided with the "Friendly Island", causing the propellers to become stuck.
