NBR upgrades online return filing system for individual taxpayers
The updated online return filing system will be opened for taxpayers from tomorrow (9 September)
The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has updated the online return filing system for individual taxpayers to file returns online for the tax year 2024-2025.
The updated online return filing system will be opened for taxpayers from tomorrow (9 September), according to a press release from the NBR.
It said that the NBR is determined to create a taxpayer-friendly, transparent and accountable tax administration.
To this end, it said, in the light of the Income Tax Act, 2023 and the Finance Act, 2024, the work of e-return system upgradation has been completed for filing of online returns for the tax year 2024-2025 of individual taxpayers.
Individual taxpayers use e-return system to prepare returns themselves, file returns online or take printouts for offline filing returns, pay tax through online banking, credit card/debit card or mobile financial services (Cash, Bikash, Rocket etc.), file returns get instant proof, income tax payment certificate and TIN certificate, copy of e-return filed for previous tax year, print or download proof of return filing.
TIN and biometric verified mobile number in taxpayer's own name will be required to register in this system.
After the National Board of Revenue launched the e-system in 2021, some 61,491 taxpayers filed e-returns in the fiscal year 2021-2022, 2,44,481 in the fiscal year 2022-2023 and 5,26,487 in the fiscal year 2023-2024.
Individual taxpayers will be able to submit their e-returns for the tax year 2024-2025 by submitting their information on the NBR's www.etaxnbr.gov.bd website from 9 September.
