Ex-chief whip ASM Feroz sent to jail in murder case

A Dhaka court today sent former chief whip ASM Feroz to jail in a case lodged over killing a young boy in the capital's Bhatara area during the July protests.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mehera Mahbub passed the order as police produced the former Patuakhali-2 lawmaker before the court after the end of his remand in the case lodged over Sohagh Miah's murder and pleaded the court to keep him behind the bars.
Police arrested ASM Feroz from the capital's Banani area on 23 August and a court placed him on seven-day remand the next day. He was placed on three-day fresh remand on 31 August.
Sohagh Miah, 16, was shot by police on 19 July in front of Farazi Hospital under Bhatara Police Station. He died on the spot. Sohagh's father Shafayet Hossain on 20 August filed the case against 91, including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
